After finding out that the Human Rights Campaign doesn’t actually fight for human rights, I started thinking more about the things that I’ve been supporting.
In case you didn’t catch it, there has been a lot of anger among people after realizing that the HRC, while flaunting it’s pro-gay agenda, ignores and puts down the T and Q of the LGBTQ community. I felt a bit sick realizing that while I may have been helping homosexual people get equality, I was also supporting an organization that was holding down other parts of the community.
I want all humans to have the same rights. When it comes right down to it, that’s what’s important to me. That’s what I want to fight for. However, this recent development makes me wonder how many of the organizations I’ve supported are only out for a certain agenda, and not really working for overall human rights. I don’t want to be a part of something that is bragging about helping some while stomping on others and shoving them under the carpet.
I still sign petitions for things that matter to me. I still speak up against injustice. However, I’m wondering about the other actions that I’ve taken. I can’t undo it, and likely wouldn’t if I could, because some good has come of those movements. What I want to do now though is to move forward fighting for actual human equality.
Do any of you know of any groups or organizations that are truly working for equality across the board, and not just for small groups ant the expense of others? Does that even exist?
