I’ve actually been giving this topic serious though. Most people don’t believe in magic. They think that magic is either just tricks or fake, since it can’t be replicated by science. Some believe in magic but they think of it in terms of love spells and lighting candles with your mind. Others believe in magic but see it in a different way.
One definition of magic says “The change in situations or events in accordance with one’s will, which would, using normally accepted methods, be unchangeable.” Another describes it as using one’s will to attain “miracles” or arrange “coincidental” events. If we look at these definitions and others like them, it seems that many of us may be practitioners of magic.
I have personally held a desire for something in my mind, then manifested it in my life. Several of these things have been beyond what should have been possible based on the mundane actions I was taking at the time. Was it magic? Were they miracles from the higher power? Is there actually a difference?
Some would say it was luck, others happy coincidence, some would say miracles and some would say it was magic. I’ve cured GERD and esophageal erosions without medication or herbs, I cured Hashimoto’s thyroiditis without medication (which is supposed to be medically impossible), I eliminated a life-long deadly allergy to mushrooms. I got the best job of my life without looking for a job. And those are just the big ones. Over the course of my life I have experienced many events that could be attributed to magic.
Have I been performing magic? I’d say I have been. Does that sound crazy? Maybe to some, but faith is one of those things that doesn’t always make sense to outside observers. Whatever you may choose to call it, I have changed things in my life by sheer force of will. I’m still trying for more too. If it’s not magic, then I guess I’m either very lucky or experiencing the gods’ favor. Any way you slice it, I’ll keep doing what I’m doing, because it seems to be working better and more often the more I keep at it.
Do you believe in magic? Do you practice it? How do you explain occurrences that had no basis in mundane activity?
