Most of us hate a hypocrite. I know I do. That’s why I try to walk the talk as best I can. I’m not always successful, but then again, neither is anyone else.

Even the best of the best, even the saints and gurus and holy leaders of the world mess up. We have our ethics and beliefs, and we try to live them the best that we can, every day of our lives. Unfortunately, life like to throw you curve balls. Inevitably, things are going to come along in your life that test what you’re made of. Whether you pass or fail is up to you.

Some people have their faith or ethics tested, and they give up. They fall victim to temptation or negativity and they never get back to where they were. That’s not good. Most people though, they falter here and there, but as soon as they realize what’s happening, they get back on track. In some cases, that faltering makes them even stronger and more devoted to their path in life.

It’s rather unfortunate, but a lot of people look at those of us who are really trying to be amazing, and assume, whether it’s true or not, that we’re full of hot air and just talking out of our asses. They think we’re not living what we preach and they’re first to step up and point out any and all slips, whether real or not. It’s sad, but it happens.

It’s up to us though to not let it get to us, or at least shake the sting of it off as quickly as we can. And as for all falls and falters, well, that’s just part of life. If you never made any mistakes, you’d never learn anything, would you?

And it’s rather interesting to me that Fiona Apple is singing this in my ear right now:

“I’m always doing what I think I should
Almost always doing everybody good
Why
Do I wanna do right, of course but
Do I really wanna feel I’m forced to
Answer you, hell no
I’ve acquired quite a taste
For a well-made mistake, I wanna
Make a mistake, why can’t I make a mistake”

Funny how things like that come up.
