I can’t remember where or when, but I read a story once about true strength. A young boy, his older brother and their father went to a video game store. The little boy wanted a pink controller and a “girly” video game. The father immediately said that he couldn’t have them, that he should get something for boys. At this point the older brother said that if his brother wanted the “girly” items, then he would get them for him. The father was furious, but the older brother never relented.
This story touched me. A brother standing up for his younger sibling is an awesome sight to behold, no matter what the circumstances are. The fact that the father denied his child something merely because it was pink and “girly” says a lot about his character too. Fear and shame must rule this man, but not the older brother. This big brother has true strength, of character.
Do you know true strength when you see it? Do you know fairness and justice? Would you have stood up for the little boy who wanted a pink controller? Do you think that a like for the color pink makes someone less of a person or a man?
