Fruit Food - Image: Public Domain, PixabayYep, a single word can be a meme. It carries along with it an entire worldwide debate about marketing, corporations, farming and eco friendliness. Trouble is, most of you don’t even know what organic means. And don’t even get me started on the bullshit surrounding “GMO”.

You see it everywhere you go. The grocery store, the news, online. It’s everywhere. The meme is “Organic is better and safer for you”. But that simply isn’t completely accurate. That’s right, I said it. Organic is NOT safer or better. Anyone who thinks that Organic means “no chemicals used” is a victim.

Ever tried farming? Or even gardening? Do you honestly think that they don’t use pesticides to keep bugs off their livelihood? Did you know that researchers haven’t bothered to study the effects of organic pesticides because it is assumed that “natural” chemicals are automatically safe? Holy Hell people, snake venom is a natural chemical compound.

And by the way, I don’t have any idea what farmers have to do in other countries to get an organic certification. I do know that getting the word organic printed on a bag is easy though. Do you have any idea what organic certification is? Do you assume that the lettuce you just bought is better for you?

You want real produce safety? Grow it yourself. Don’t have that kind of time? Welcome to the modern world. Now educate yourself.
