I love it when I can reclaim materials from one thing and turn them into something completely different. As if turning a lampshade into the Rich Rebirth earrings wasn’t enough, these pastel beauties here used to be a diary!
Yes, these tiny frosted beads used to be sewn to the front of a diary. The diary itself was fairly nice, but the tacky beaded and sequined flower decorations weren’t, so the beads were carefully removed and stored away in my materials bin. They sat there for ages while I tried to find inspiration for them. One day, I was on a huge earring making binge, and those little diary decorations finally got a new life.
I think I must have made about a dozen sets of hoops the day I made these. I was totally rocking the inspiration. As I dug deep into my supplies, I caught sight of these long-forgotten beads and knew they’d be beautiful if they were woven onto a hoop. I decided to go with two rounds, one woven through the other. The final result looks like a garland of tiny flowers to me. I love the soft colors and the way the wire shines between them. I’m glad these beads finally got to live again as something really lovely.
