I keep getting emails about various animal species becoming endangered because of deforestation and pollution, along with other causes like human expansion, and I can’t help but think of the science fiction movies I’ve seen where the only animals left on Earth are the ones in captivity or those that have been preserved in museums. Whether we want to admit it or not, that’s where we’re headed.
I don’t understand how people can stand idly by and allow this to happen. For the most part, people just don’t care. They’re not thinking about what these huge companies are doing in the name of so-called progress that’s destroying the environment and killing off animals all over the planet. They really should care though. Just because a bat or frog or tiger may not be important to your daily life doesn’t mean that they’re not important to the environment.
Every creature out there exists for a reason. Without them, ecosystems fall into disarray. We need to be doing everything we can to stop the destruction of wild areas and to preserve animal life. Not to mention, do you really want to live in a world where there are no wild creatures? Do you want to exist on a barren planet where there’s little or no natural space and it’s just filled with cities and mines and barren fields? No one in their right mind would want to live in a place like that.
The thing is, we’ve gotten so caught up in having more stuff that we don’t think about the cost to the environment. We just want more things, and we don’t care what has to be done to get them. That’s wrong, and it’s so harmful to the world. Eventually, it’s going to directly affect us. If we don’t fight for change, our whole environment is going to be destroyed and this planet won’t be worth living on.
I think that we should all be more aware of the practices of the companies that our products come from. If animals or forests or natural spaces are being destroyed, we need to stand up and tell the companies to stop. That’s why I sign so many petitions. I make my voice heard the only way I can. I’m grateful to those who go out and physically protest too, making our voices truly heard. We need to stand together, stand up, and make changes.
You can try to stick your head in the sand and pretend it’s not happening, but nature is being destroyed whether you believe it or not. You are responsible for the world you live in. You have to do something to save it. If you’re not aware and doing something, then you’re part of the problem. We all need to have respect for this planet and the creatures on it, and that means protecting everything that exists, not destroying it.
