I wanted to give everyone an update regarding my writing, and the future of this site. I want to tell you about Patreon, the new book I’m writing, and the future of this blog.

Patreon and the Blog

In case you hadn’t noticed, there is now a Patreon support link in the sidebar, and at the top of every blog post. This is because writing is hard work, and a blog doesn’t earn a lot, so I need your support to keep doing what I do. I’ve been writing for all you folks for many years now, and I want to keep doing it. Unfortunately, I just can’t afford to work for free anymore. I’ve been struggling ever since the big smack-down from Google that affected thousands of bloggers like me. With the recent news that Google is going to become an “answer engine” and more locally-focused, instead of a search engine, thus making it even harder for non-answer-based sites to be found, I realized I had to make some changes.

Trying to write articles that meet Google’s standards for ranking has sucked all the enjoyment out of writing. I can’t keep doing it, especially since it doesn’t really work. If I write, I need to write in a way that I enjoy, and in a way that’s focused on readers, not search engines. This means that I’m most likely going to be writing for my patrons first, and then trickling it out to the public later. I’m still working on exactly how to do that. I do have 90+ ideas ready to go, but I’m not sure when they’ll get written.

101 Frugal Witch Tips Book

I’ve decided that I’m going to work on something that’s more likely to get Patreon support for now. Even though I’ve been talking about writing a gemstone companion to the Herbal Magick book, I have an idea for something that I can produce sooner, which will be good for me, and for anyone who supports me on Patreon. I’m going to take the 55 frugal witch tips that I wrote and posted as images back in March, add 46 more entries, elaborate on all of them, and turn the whole thing into a book. It’ll be fun, useful, and hopefully won’t take more than a month to finish. (Although I never know what life will throw at me, so no promises!)

Since Patreon is all about supporting creators in their work, I’m really hoping that folks will sign up and pledge their support for the new book, and for my work in general. The more support I get, the more great content I can produce for all of you to enjoy. Anyone who joins me on Patreon will get early access to my work, regular updates, previews, and even some free books. There will be perks for your support, and I’ll be incredibly grateful to be getting paid to do what I love. It is real work after all!

The Gemstone Correspondences Book

It’s being put off for a little while, but it’s going to happen, if I get enough supporters. Writing a book of that magnitude will involve a lot of research, and I won’t have the time to do any blogging, so I’ll need plenty of supporters to keep my head above water while I work on it. I really do want to do it, and I’m sure you guys would love it, so, if you’ve enjoyed my work, please come support me on Patreon. Even if it’s just $1 a month, every bit helps. (Although higher donations will get more perks!)

Well, that’s all for now. I need to get to work on the new book! First I have to remember how to even format a book… Man, it’s been a while!
