I wrote an article a while back about how to use coffee grounds to get rid of ants. I’d link to it, but for some reason I can’t seem to find it in my archive. I’m really hoping Bubblews didn’t eat the bloody thing. It was a good article and a few people were incredibly thankful for it, because the method worked for them.

Anyway, even though coffee usually does wonders, sometimes you’ll find a really hearty nest that coffee won’t get rid of. We have one in the back yard that’s been a real wench. However, there is hope. If you have some particularly arrogant ants that don’t move out after the coffee treatment, there’s one more thing you can do, and it goes all the way back to middle school.

Did you ever have to make a volcano for school? If so, you probably know what’s coming next. Baking soda and vinegar! it foams up and can make quite a mess. Perfect for an eruption! It’s also good for other things too. Baking soda and vinegar is awesome for clearing clogged drains and making your fixtures sparkle.

Well, it’s also a great way to seriously tick off some ants. Sift baking soda all over the mound, then pour vinegar on it. Voila! Really unhappy ants. They’re not going to want to be there anymore. We killed part of the massive mound we have doing that. Unfortunately, it didn’t get them all, so we used more coffee. There is officially no movement on that mound now, or the one by our trash can that got coffee only.

Hope that helps some people!
