I’m sad to say that my future books are all on hold for an undetermined period of time. I’m looking for a solution, but I’m not sure how long it will take.
The reason for this is that I’m having trouble with Lulu. Their recent redesign resulted in the loss of the tools I was used to using. They did this so that they can push paid services with their partners. Without those tools, getting my interior ready is more difficult, and getting the covers to match previous books is impossible. (This is a big issue considering my intent to release The Dark Side of My Mind Volume 11.) I also feel that I’m not getting paid enough for the sales I make, and I think I may not be getting paid at all for some sales.
What this means is that I have to find a new publisher. I can’t afford to pay to publish. Even Ingram’s costs, which are less than most places, are more than I can afford right now. Especially if I wanted to move all of my titles from Lulu. Even if I only published new books through them, I can’t spend that kind of money up front, not knowing if I’ll make enough sales to make up for it.
I toyed with the idea of writing anyway, and having the work available here on Patreon, but I’m not sure anyone would be willing to pay a monthly subscription to read a book, even if it meant in the long run they’d be able to read several books.
So, I’m left trying to find an alternative, and so far, I’m not seeing any that offer everything Lulu once provided. This is heartbreaking and infuriating. I’m not sure what to do, but I’ll keep looking and hopefully I can find an adequate solution to the problem.
