Stained Glass Abstract - Image: Public Domain, PixabayA friend of mine made me think of something a while back. There’s a phrase out there that has been used as an insult countless times, and yet she decided to OWN it. You’ll hear people say that someone is looking at the world through rose colored glasses, somehow inferring that the subject of the insult is seeing the world in a way that is distorted. It got me to thinking about something I often say in my posts and have to realize about myself in my day to day life. I tend to look at the world differently than most people. I think about things in ways that I sometimes can’t even explain. Ask my wife, she’ll tell you all about our communication issues. There are many good reasons that we will take one day a week and just sit and talk for hours. My skewed perspective is one of them.

If you read all my posts, you probably know that I am a messy, chaotic combination of elements and personality traits. By the way, I see that as a GOOD thing. Everyone is messy and chaotic on the inside, trust me. Even YOU, yes you. The one reading this. No, not you, the one sitting with the cheetos. Yes YOU.

Where was I ? Oh yeah, I was talking about how I look at things differently. Well you can too, with a little effort. Okay, a LOT of effort if you’re still part of the stupid. Wanna know how? I’ve written scads of posts about being a better person. You could start there. And by start I mean actually DO some of the things I suggest. You could also look hard at the kinds of symbolism I use when I write. I don’t do this for my health (well not totally anyway), I do it for YOURS. Another thing you can do, and this is important so pay bloody attention! Stop doing things JUST for the money. (and don’t tell me how that’s stupid or impossible). If you are working ONLY for money, you are WASTING your life.

More ways to see the world how I do? You’re sure? Okay, but don’t say I didn’t warn you, this can cause insanity or enlightenment. Not necessarily in that order. *results not atypical

Remember to play every day.

Cultivate an appreciation for knowledge and learning.

Read something just for the enjoyment of reading.

Find the FNORDS.

Ask yourself why soldiers live under the poverty level, give life and limb, and still pay taxes.

Get irritated at the fact that ASPCA commercials exist.

Enjoy your food. You HAVE to eat, why make the experience suck?

Think about the color of a rainbow. And all the colors you CAN’T see.

When you think you’re going mad as a hatter, then you are getting close. When you realize that you are sane, but the world is batshit insane, then I will welcome you to the turtle that the box rests upon. Keep looking at the world through rainbows and chocolate my friends, just remember that your rose is my twisty purple.
