In the Good Witch, a young girl named Lori is plagued by nightmares of monsters, a result of losing her mother. Believing that Cassie can help with anything because she’s a witch, Lori asks for her help. Cassie offers Lori a dreamcatcher and explains to Lori what it does. She also tells Lori that no matter what, she mustn’t dream of bunnies.

Of course, Lori does dream of bunnies. She’s worried at first until she realizes that she didn’t dream of monsters. with just a little help, Lori now feels empowered to take control of her thoughts and her dreams. Cassie didn’t need magic to help the girl, even though the child felt it was magic.

It’s important to not dismiss children or make them feel like there’s something wrong with them when they’re having a problem. Some parents will berate their kids for talking about nightmares or for bringing up other issues. They should be helping the children understand what’s happening and help them to feel like they can overcome. Cassie’s method was brilliant, and incredibly simple.

Too many parents make their children feel ignored, unimportant or like they’re bad even though they’re just facing normal problems. It’s so much better to help kids feel empowered. There are hundreds of little tricks, like Cassie’s, that parents can use to make their children feel smart, strong and in control of their lives.

This isn’t the only time in the movies that Cassie helps a young person learn to take control of their own future or do the right thing. There are several instances where she teaches someone, or their parents, how kids can be guided in the right direction. Even though she has no children of her own, she’s a better parent than most, and people could learn a lot from her.
