Here is something that needs to be said. If you are afraid of being wrong, you will spend your entire life in misery. There is nothing inherently evil or bad about being wrong or making a mistake. If you don’t ever make a mistake, you won’t ever learn anything. If you are never wrong, then … waitaminute … that’s IMPOSSIBLE!
And yet, even if it is impossible to never be wrong, more destruction is caused by this fear than you might think. Think about this for a minute, why is it that religions and governments hate each other and attempt to exterminate one another? What do you think would happen if they thought for a moment that they could be WRONG about something? What if they could accept the inevitability of making a mistake? So they kill each other over their differences because they think that they are right. But what if they are wrong? And so to prove they are right, they go to war. Like two children fighting over which color of jellybean is “better”. What if they are both right and wrong, at the same time, about the same things? Maybe I think too much, but at least I have the courage to think and accept that I might be wrong.
If you live expecting to be right all the time, you are doomed to misery. Accept the fact that no one is always right. We all make mistakes, but we can learn from them. When you learn, you change. When you change, you come to realize that you were wrong in your past. Once upon a time, people thought that the earth was flat. They thought they were right and horrible persecution was heaped upon those who disagreed.
How important is it to you to be right? Are you afraid enough to KILL over what you could be WRONG about?
