I don’t usually have anything to say about grammar, spelling, or typos but today I have had ENOUGH. When I look at bad spelling and grammar on Facebook, I often overlook it because I know how hard it can be to try to type on a device as small as a cell phone.

But when I start looking around an English language “news” site and more than half the articles have horrid grammar and spelling I just start to lose my temper. I am very well aware that there are quite a few people out there for whom English is a second language, but I also know what automated translations look like. Learn the language or stop posting. I’m begging you. Automatic translators do NOT work well enough to translate whole articles, they don’t even work well for a sentence or two.

If you are one of those people who are working hard to improve your English skills, I tip my hat to you. Keep up the good work and encourage others to do the same. Explain to them what context is. English is one of the most difficult languages in the world to learn so don’t try to fake it, it just comes out as unreadable garbage.
