I’ve talked about this before, but it’s one of those things that bears repeating until people really start to get it. The more you focus on the negativity of life and the world, the more negativity you’re going to see and get.

I understand that the world is in a really crappy place right now. I know that people are facing problems on both a global and personal scale. Things can be hard and the world can be ugly, but that’s not all there is to life. and the more you focus on the negativity, the more you make it part of your daily life.

Just as an example, people are out of work. There seems to be this huge mess with the economy and people are falling on hard times. So you look at that, and you think about it. You rage about it and talk about it and make other people aware of it. You feel sad and angry and worried. You bring that deep into your own life. From there you start worrying about how it affects you. You worry that you might lose your own job. You feel stress about all the bad things that would come to you from that. Now that negative thing is a part of you and your life.

It doesn’t have to be that way. You can have faith that your job will last, or that if it doesn’t, you’ll be able to find another. You can look into ways to create more jobs or save existing jobs. You can read about the ways people support themselves when their jobs are gone. You can do things to support the economy. There is a better side, and you could focus on that if you wanted to.

It’s not idealistic or unrealistic to see the other side of the truth and make that what you live each day. Nothing is all bad. There’s always another side. Which one you perpetuate and keep in your life and put into the lives of others is your choice. You always have a choice. You can put your thought and emotion into the dark side of life or the light side. You can have hope or despair. It’s all up to you.

I recently had to remind myself of this very thing, so I get that it can be hard at times. We all just have to remember that we have a choice, and what we choose affects us and everyone we come into contact with. We can make shifts in the world every day if we want to, we just have to choose to do that instead of repeating and increasing and becoming lost in the negativity.
