comment-clkrI’ve noticed a sad trend in the world: People are afraid to speak. I know writers who are afraid to post their real thoughts on social networks or article sites for fear of what people will think. I’ve known readers who fear commenting for the same reason. It’s sad and horrible that anyone should be afraid to speak.

People either post anonymously or don’t post at all because they don’t want people they know, or sometimes anyone at all, to know what they really think and feel. They fear being themselves. They fear what others will say to them or do to them if they allow anyone to know who they really are. That disgusts me. No one should have to live in fear of being who they truly are.

I encourage people to speak out. If you’re a writer, write the truth, even if people won’t like it. Speak out and let your voice be heard. You may help others to do the same. If you’re a reader, comment. Say what you have to say. Agree or disagree, just do it respectfully. Share your stories and experiences. get people thinking. Don’t be silent.

People need to stop fearing being themselves. They need to stand up and stop worrying about how other people will react. You need to live with yourself, everyone else comes and goes. Do you want to go to your death knowing you spent your life hiding from yourself and the truth?

Have you ever been afraid to write or comment because of the possible backlash or misunderstanding? Do you speak out and accept the consequences?

Define Irony: A post telling people to make comments that has no comments.

Like I’m afraid of what someone thinks of the things I say?
