Believe it or not I’m talking about religion, not humanity. Although I do think that humanity needs to unify as a species, I also think that more people need to realize some interesting facts about religion.
When you really get down to the foundations, all religions teach the same things. ALL OF THEM. They have been trying for centuries to teach us to get along, be compassionate, etc. So why is it that more people are interested in whether their religion is the right one or not? Is it ignorance, arrogance, perceptual limitations?
I have an odd way of thinking about religion, I know. Try this thought on for a minute ok? Imagine a hundred people all in one large building. Now imagine that each of these hundred people have a window to look out of. How do you think they might describe what “outside” looks like? They are ALL looking outside but they also ALL see something different. In my mind, the vision of divinity works the same way. I will not see what you see, and you will not see what I see. You won’t see what your neighbor sees, and you won’t see the same things as someone in another country.
Stop being concerned with what others see in their window on god, and try learning what the lessons are. Don’t be concerned with the trappings so much as the people. We are all on the same journey. Catholics, Baptists, Buddhists, Hindi, Shinto, Wiccan, Shamanistic, and even Orthodox Satanists. Be good, there is no right.
