It’s horrible that people still think this, but it is not true that all Pagans hate Christians or other followers of Abrahamic faiths. Some people are bigoted, but generally, they try to take a pretty accepting attitude towards others’ beliefs.
For most Pagans, they will live and let live. If you don’t shove your faith in their faces, they won’t shove theirs in yours. If you treat them with respect, they’ll do the same for you. Generally, it’s not the religion that they hate, it’s the bad apples who follow it. It’s the particular people who treat Pagans with hate and disrespect, who condemn their souls and see them as monsters. It’s those people and their extreme beliefs that Pagans hate, not the religion as a whole.
Just because they don’t believe the same as someone else doesn’t mean that they hate them. They just want to be treated like anyone else, with respect and decency. When people attack you and your beliefs, that’s when negative emotions and actions crop up. They’e not going to take kindly to being treated with contempt and abuse.
Most Pagans are also aware that not all Christians hate them. They may not like or understand Pagans, but they’ll let them be. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of history to back up the ill-will between these two religious groups. We have to work very hard to bring harmony and understanding so that we can all live peacefully in this world.
*Disclaimer: I no longer practice Paganism, but I’ve left these Pagan Myths articles active because I believe they’re still valuable in helping people to understand Paganism and reduce negative stereotypes.*
