There are some people who’ve found their way to writing sites that are giving other writers a hard time. I call them “Article Purists”. They think that everything you write needs to be one page or longer, serious, trending and SEO optimized. They see no value in op-ed articles or posts that are of a personal nature.
Now, if that’s what they want to do, that’s fine by me. Do your thing and more power to you. However, don’t give other people a hard time for writing what they want to write, and don’t ever tell them that they’re doing something wrong for not working like you do. Different kinds of writing all have their own value.
Now, I’m all for getting people to write quality pieces, spell correctly, and make sense. However, that doesn’t mean they all have to write the same kind of content or write it in the same way. Some people *want* to read op-ed, humor or hear about other people’s lives. They don’t want everything to be dry and informative. Some people want a mix of both. Let them have it. Stop trying to make the internet a bunch of clones all doing the same thing for the same reasons.
Are you an article purist? If not, what do you think of them?
