A few days ago I finally found what I thought looked like a nice, active forum for all kinds of artisans. I jumped right in and got to commenting and posting, full of joy because I finally found a place with like minded people. Unfortunately, now I hear the crickets chirping and it makes me kind of sad.
I thought Craft Foum was going to be awesome. It seemed like there were a lot of posts and while it’s not the best designed forum I’ve ever seen, I was more interested in finally having a place to chat with other people about crafts. I’m not sure what’s going on, but the place seems to be much more dead than what it first appeared.
I went poking around looking for action (Not that kind!) and started realizing that many of the posts hadn’t been touched in months, even a year and a lot of members seemed to have mysteriously disappeared. Pages upon pages of albums were empty, some posts are dead and sections of the forum kind of look like a wasteland.
I’m trying to get active on as many posts as possible, taking the effort to find things to say and leaving nice comments. I’m really hoping that the forum gets active again. I really, really wanted to have a place where I could hang out and spend time with people who like some of the same things that I do. Not to mention, I like looking at all the cool stuff that other people make and even learning new techniques.
If you’re reading this post and you’re into crafting of any kind, maybe you can come over to the forums and join in. Maybe the place just needs a few new, active members. I’m brianadragon on there if you want to look me up. I hope that I don’t have to go looking for another forum. Just in case it comes to that, do any of you know of a crafting forum that’s open to all kinds of crafts and is really active?
Crafting is one of the only areas in my life where I can easily relate to other people, so finding this kind of social outlet is really important to me. I loved it back in the day when I had an auction community to hang out with, but those days are gone. My crafting is the one thing I have left that I really enjoy and could share with other people. There’s got to be somewhere out there that’s active and fun and would give me that interaction that I need so much.
