Snail Road - Image: Public Domain, PixabayI love being inspired and having a lot of ideas, but sometimes it can be so much to handle. The last few days have been amazing for me for writing, and I am grateful for every thought and every word of it, but wow, it’s a lot! Sometimes I wish my brain could just slow down a little more and hold onto things a little longer.

I was fixing my lunch and an article was running through my head. While I was eating there was another. While I was in the bathroom there was another. On good days I have so many ideas for so many articles that it’s not even funny. The only problem with it is that I can’t hold onto all of them for long enough, so only a fraction of them ever get written.

I’m wondering if there’s something that I can do to help my mind hold onto the ideas for longer. Not actively, but keep them on file in the back of my brain or something so I can access them later. I do my best to take notes on all of the ideas that I have, but there are so many and they come at such odd times that I don’t get them all written down, and by the time I get to the ones I do have written down, I’ve forgotten a lot of the awesome things that I wanted to say.

What’s worse is that I not only have to write each piece, I then have to proofread, monetize and post it, then I have to social share them. That all takes time. If I did what my mind wanted me to, I’d be doing nothing but writing all day long and I’d have to have someone else do all the other work. Either that, or I’d never get any sleep or get to do any other work or fun. I want my mind to take it a little easier on me.

Like I said, I love being inspired. I love writing. I want to have both. Unfortunately, I can’t handle all of the stuff that goes through my head when it goes at the speed it does, and then it’s gone. I’d really like to find a way to slow my mind down just a little, or be able to hold onto the ideas and access them later. Maybe a combination of both.

I do my best at all of this, but it does get a little frustrating that I have pages upon pages of ideas that never get written because new ones keep coming in. I always try to write the newest, freshest ideas first, then go back to the older ones when I can. Man, can you imagine what it would be like if I could actually write them all and never lose the good stuff? That would be awesome! I guess I just have to do the best I can with what I’ve got for now though.

Do any of you know any tricks for holding onto ideas? I can’t always take notes when things come, and they blaze through really fast. If there’s anything I can do to make all that better, I’d love to try it.

The way I see it, just write and proofread everything first, and worry about monetizing and sharing them after. The writing is the main thing. The monetizing and sharing can wait for a few hours 🙂

That’s what I do. Yesterday I wrote 7 before they even got proofread, then I posted. They aren’t getting social shared until after I see them in my email.
