When you’re feeling “off” or a bit down, you probably want to snap out of it and get back your good feelings. Here are just a few things that I have been doing in my life to bring me back to a happy place, or keep myself in it. Maybe some of them will work for you too.
Enjoy your food. I mean really enjoy it. Close your eyes and breathe in the aromas. Chew slowly and savor the flavors. Taste each part alone, and then together. Experience every bite. Feel grateful to have good food and remember all the good it does for your body, and your spirit.
Watch something uplifting. Maybe you like Wayne Dyer videos. Maybe you’re a fan of the Good Witch series. Maybe you love Rise of The Guardians. Watch something that is funny, sweet or helps you become a better person.
Listen to music. Sing or dance too if you like. Music can be so amazing, and what you listen to can totally change your mood. Singing and dancing can relieve stress and make you happier too.
Burn incense or melts. Adding a pleasant scent to the air can help shift your mood. If your house, or even just one room, smells inviting and pleasant, you’ll feel better when you’re there.
Pamper yourself. Take a long shower or bath. Rub in some lotion. Sugar scrub your body. Get your honey to give you a massage. Do something that makes you feel warm and wonderful.
Play a game. Whether it’s on your computer, console, tablet or phone, playing a game can be a great way to shift your mood. If possible, have a variety of games available. Fast-paced, challenging, funny, easy-going and more so you can choose what fits the mood you’re in or want to be in.
Look at beautiful pictures. Sometimes I use Pixabay for inspiration or mood-changing. I’ll browse the top picks and really think about what I see and how it makes me feel. There are plenty of places online you can go to find cool or beautiful images to look at.
Write happy things. When you’re feeling really down or stressed, writing about happy things can be a great pick-me-up. Think back on times when you really felt great and write about them. share with other people so you can get the positive feedback. Or imagine happy things happening in your future and share those.
Well, I hope those tricks help you out the way they help me. I have more, but those are the ones coming to me right now. What little things do you do to get yourself happy? Feel free to share!
