Some of you may have been wondering why there haven’t been any more daily yoga posts. The plan gave me two days off, and I took two more off, one because I wasn’t well and yesterday because I had annoying life stuff that took my whole day. I got back to it today, and then I exited the 12-day plan.
I injured myself today on two poses. I don’t have my tablet, so I can’t look up which ones, but I hurt my shoulders and pulled something in my thigh. It has become abundantly clear that this supposed “beginner” course is anything but.
I wanted to keep doing it, and I’m not totally giving up, but this course is NOT designed for a real beginner. I can’t risk more injury, so I need to find another plan. I’m thinking about just using the pose library to practice, but the videos there are short and I’d have to get up and change the video after each move. All I really know is that I can’t continue the plan as they intended. I looked forward to the next lesson, and there is no way that I can do any of the moves in it.
Does anyone know of any free videos or apps for TRUE beginners? I can’t touch my toes. I can’t sit on the floor with my legs straight, much less reach my ankles from that pose. I have almost no balance. I need something that explains how to gain the flexibility and balance needed to do yoga. The app I have obviously works on the idea that you already have contortion level flexibility and perfect balance. Sadly, I do not.
I’m not really sure what to do from here, but I don’t want to give up on doing yoga. There has to be a way to get my body to a point where it will be possible for me.
