I have been trying to get in better shape lately. I lost 30 pounds, now it’s time for strength and flexibility. I can’t stand regular exercise, so I decided to see if I could find something else. for some reason, yoga seemed the way to go. I searched for something I could put on my laptop to help me out, but ended up finding something for my tablet instead.
I found Daily Yoga All-in-One on Google Play. It looked really good, so last night I downloaded it as well as all the free plugins that they had to offer. This morning was my first session. I started with Yoga Breathing for Beginners.
It’s not really as focused on breathing as I thought it would be, but I’m starting to get the hang of it. It’s hard to focus on breathing right AND getting the poses, but I’m working on it. I did the 10 minute session. I must say that I do like the app. The pose pictures are clear, there is a good text description, the videos you follow are clear and well-shot, and it’s easy to follow. While you’re watching, a woman’s voice tells you exactly what to do.
I got through it, but I was painfully (literally) aware of my lack of flexibility. There’s a pose where you put your legs straight in front of you, bend over and grab your ankles with your back straight and knees down. I can’t do it. I can’t even grab my thighs with my back straight, it hurts my legs. I’m going to keep at it though. I’ll never get better if I don’t try.
I’ll be doing this every day from now on, right after I get up and finish my morning hygiene. I’m going to do this beginner one a few more times until I get more comfortable with it. I may also do some stretching during the day when I take breaks from writing, so that I can improve faster. I’ll be journaling my progress, so stay tuned.
