I can’t count the number of times that I have seen or heard stupidity over colors being related to specific genders “blue is for boys, pink is for girls”, and the nonsense that color choices have anything to do with your sexuality.

The really stupid thing is that if a man wears pink he’s supposedly gay, but women wear blue all the time and we don’t think they’re all lesbians. So not only is it totally idiotic, it’s also stupidly one-sided. If it’s gay for men to wear pink, then it must be gay for women to wear blue. That would make sense, wouldn’t it? That would also make nearly every woman alive a lesbian.

Colors do not have gender. Sure, somewhere in history people decided to give blue to boys and pink to girls, but the colors are just colors, they don’t really mean anything. I mean hell, if you wrap a baby in green what does that make them? It’s not masculine or feminine, so does it make them neuter? Omnisexual? Maybe they’re not even human!

People need to get over the homophobic color crap. I’ve actually seen some guys who pull off pink pretty well, and they’re straight and sexy too. One’s sexual orientation or proclivities are not determined, or even really influenced by the colors they wear. You could dress a baby boy in pink for 5 years, it wouldn’t make him turn gay. Most likely he’d just hate you when he got older.

Do you think colors can be “gay”? Do you think people need to just get over their homophobia?
