pen paper quill-pixaI’ve been sharing my poetry here, and I thought perhaps I should tell all of you why I’m doing it.

It’s not just about raising interest in my poetry and getting people to buy the books. There is a far more important reason why I’m making all of my work available on the internet. I want people to know they’re not alone.

I’ve been through a lot of harsh stuff. I’ve had a rough life. I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me because of that, I’m a survivor. The hardships of my past have made me the amazing person I am now. That’s what I want to share. I want people to know that they’re not the only ones who have been abused by family, raped, bullied, lost love, thought about suicide, dealt with addiction, poverty or illness. I’ve been there too, and I came through it stronger.

I want people to know that there is hope. You can get through it. Express yourself, let it out, even if it’s just on paper, and you *can* cope. You can become a survivor too. There’s no need for pity, only understanding. No matter how bad what you’re going through seems right now, you can live through it and be a better person for it.

I share with love and compassion for all those out there who are suffering through things no one should suffer. You’re not alone. Hang on, and things will get better.
