I have my ProtoPage pinned to a tab in my browser, and it has several tabs for various things like my favorite site feeds, notes, bookmarks and other tidbits. I recently added a new tab, and I’m hoping that it will be helpful to me. It’s called “affirmations,” but it’s a bit more than that.
What I have on there, as you can see in the image, aren’t your usual affirmations. They’re more like positive goal statements. Now, I may add some more general affirmations to it in the future, but for right now it’s very goal oriented. I was reading a book and it talked about putting positive goals on index cards and taping them to the wall. I can’t really do that, but I can have a page in my browser for it. I look at my ProtoPage every day anyway, so it’s a good place to have it.
There are a lot of things that I want to achieve. Many of them I think I should have achieved already, but I haven’t. I could spend the rest of my life trying to figure out why that is and blaming myself or others, but the past is past and I can’t change it. I can, however, make a better future. I’ve heard so many people say that you don’t need to know how you’ll succeed, you only need to believe that you will. Making this board is a way for me to ingrain these goals in my head, see my progress, and remind myself to feel good about them.
It’s really easy to get mired in blame and doubt when you haven’t gotten what you want. Unfortunately that doesn’t do a single bit of good. You have to stay focused, stay positive, and keep trying. I know that one of my biggest problems is thinking that I’m not good enough to succeed and that all the success is already taken by other people. Neither of those are true, and I’ll probably add some more affirmations to remind me of that. There is still room for me to succeed, and I am more than good enough to have what I want.
I’m going to look at this page every day and think about achieving my goals. I want 2015 to be my best year ever. I want everything to be amazing and I want to actually surpass the goals I have listed. I even have a plan for how to change the blocks when I do surpass them. It makes me smile just thinking about surpassing those goals and setting up new ones. If things go my way, I can upgrade a lot of those blocks. I really want to see that happen. (It just occurred to me that the 1,000,000 steps goal is kind of crazy and will be really hard. Can I really do that?)
You can also see that I mentioned MindBloom in one of the blocks. I set up my MindBloom tree with 6 things that I want to accomplish every day. It’s always the same 6 things. I figure that if I can master that much, I can then add more. So far I’ve completed the 6 item list 2 out of the 3 days since I restarted my tree. That’s not too bad. I’m hoping that I can rack up a lot of consecutive days on there, but with the pending move, I’m going to allow myself some leeway. I will make a point to try to complete at least some of them every day though.
I really hope that this helps me get closer to, and in time surpass, all of my goals. I’m sure I’ll add more too. I really want to see my life change for the better. Don’t we all? So what I want to know is this: have any of you out there done anything like this? How much did it help? Do you have a different technique that has worked for you? What is it? Feel free to share!
