I saw a post by You, Too, Can Be A Guru on G+ today, which led me to another post, then another, which led me to Bridget Willard’s 100 Things About Me post. I’m horrible at talking about myself, but I figured, what the heck, I’ll give it a shot and see how people respond to it. So here it is, 100 things about me…

  1. I never feel very comfortable talking about myself.
    .
  2. I am 38 years young, but I rarely tell people my age. (Wonderfully, most people think I’m 25-35 tops.)
    .
  3. I just dyed my hair blue, and I feel beautiful this way.
    .
  4. My favorite colors are royal blue, black and silver.
    .
  5. My favorite flowers are peonies and milkweed. They’re pretty and they small like happiness to me.
    .
  6. I almost always have an animal in my life, and I’ve owned more birds than cats in my lifetime.
    .
  7. I’ve created over 2000 pieces of art, many of which are in my online shops.
    .
  8. I’ve published more than two dozen books.
    .
  9. I love bacon, dark chocolate and sriracha.
    .
  10. I have been a Satanist, Wiccan, Pagan, sort of a Buddhist and almost an atheist. Now I’m basically an eclectic spiritualist.
    .
  11. I take inspiration for blog posts from my everyday life and what I see online. You may have been the inspiration for a post and not known it.
    .
  12. I used to think I might be a lesbian. I realized I prefer men, but really appreciate women. (And I did date a couple.)
    .
  13. I am not a supporter of legal marriage, but do believe in lifelong unions.
    .
  14. When I first tried getting The Dark Side published, I got enough rejection letters to paper a wall. (Eventually I self-published all my work, and still do.)
    .
  15. I used to have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and a host of other ailments. I cured them through meditation, prayer and herbs, even though that’s supposed to be medically impossible.
    .
  16. I’m a survivor of physical abuse, mental abuse and rape. My experiences have made me a stronger and more compassionate person.
    .
  17. I rarely feel as pretty as people tell me I am, and have had a long battle with Body Dysmorphic Disorder. (Hence the Beautiful Like You Project.)
    .
  18. I truly want to educate people and help them become better, kinder and happier. I believe that we all have a responsibility to try to make the world a better place.
    .
  19. I’ve written well over 5000 articles, many of which have been lost as I transferred from site to site over the years.
    .
  20. I love a good gel pen, but I prefer typing on a super low-profile keyboard.
    .
  21. I am insanely eclectic when it comes to music, with Patsy Cline, Disturbed, The Smiths and Vertical Horizon being among my favorites.
    .
  22. I walk around barefoot as often as possible, and I hardly ever wear socks in my shoes.
    .
  23. I’m barely 5’2″, but most people think I’m taller because I always wear heels or platforms when I go out. (It’s hysterical when I take my shoes off in front of people for the first time.)
    .
  24. I have never played any sport in my entire life.
    .
  25. I can’t swim, skate, drive or ride a bike.
    .
  26. If I didn’t hate exercise so much, I’d love to get in good enough shape to be on Ninja Warrior. I’d still love to find a way to get in shape that doesn’t feel like so much work.
    .
  27. I don’t have contact with any of my biological family anymore. My family consists of my husband, in-laws and closest internet friends.
    .
  28. I prefer Star Trek over Star Wars, and used to have a huge crush on Data.
    .
  29. I would love to be as beautiful and bad-ass as Claudia Black was in Farscape. (Someone once mistook me for her in a fast food place and had a total fangasm. I felt bad telling him I wasn’t her.)
    .
  30. I often use Farscape cursing in place of regular cursing onilne and in real life speaking.
    .
  31. I used to be afraid of going to the grocery store or mall. Being around people terrified me. Over time, I learned to get over it.
    .
  32. People usually think I’m snooty and superior, even though I’m not. I speak well and love knowledge, but I’m really quite nice if people take the time to get to know me. (Intelligence is not a character flaw.)
    .
  33. I believe in tough love and telling people the truth, even if it hurts. I think “white” lies are as bad as any other, but omission isn’t lying.
    .
  34. I used to have close to 200 online accounts that I tried actively using. As the years have passed I find that I’m much happier focusing on fewer things and fewer networks.
    .
  35. It drives me absolutely insane when people say “there’s” when they should be saying “there are.” (There is [there’s] one, there are many. Sheesh!)
    .
  36. I very much dislike the term Grammar Nazi, and prefer to be called a Grammar Angel.
    .
  37. If I get a tan, you can, without a doubt, tell that I’ve got Italian in me. I try not to tan anymore because no makeup known to woman works on an olive tan skin tone.
    .
  38. I used to wear makeup every day without fail and wouldn’t leave home without it for fear of being called ugly. Now I hardly ever wear makeup when I go out, unless it’s just for fun.
    .
  39. I used to have a drug problem because of peer pressure, but got clean almost a decade ago and never looked back.
    .
  40. I’m not ashamed to admit that I have flaws and have screwed up in the past, even though I’ve been told I should be. Everything I’ve done made me who I am today, and I love who I am now.
    .
  41. Even though Klout scores are meaningless, I’m kind of obsessed with mine.
    .
  42. I like G+ better than FaceBook, and I’m trying to quit using FaceBook.
    .
  43. I get seriously annoyed when people claim that whatever they’re doing is the right way and everyone else is wrong. If it works, it’s not the wrong way.
    .
  44. I believe that spirituality is wonderful, but religion is destroying the world.
    .
  45. I’m not a fan of pink, but I look really good in it.
    .
  46. My eyes really are that blue, but they change shades depending on my mood.
    .
  47. My biggest goal in life right now is to get my shops and books to make enough money to have a comfortable and stable life.
    .
  48. I once burned a small toy horse down to nothing because I was convinced that it was watching me with its creepy follow-you-everywhere eyes.
    .
  49. I once had my entire room wallpapered with full-page photos from Metal Edge magazine.
    .
  50. I don’t want chemicals put in my body when I die. I want a clean burial in the Maine wilderness.
    .
  51. I don’t support cosmetic surgery, but if there was a natural way to achieve a breast lift, I’d be all over it.
    .
  52. I’ve tried to quit smoking more times than I can count. I keep trying, as it’s my only non-healthy habit.
    .
  53. I’ve caught crawdads with my bare hands, but never eaten one.
    .
  54. I’ve eaten bugs and other strange things. There are very few things I won’t eat, and I’d love to try more exotic foods.
    .
  55. I used to be a librarian. It was the only “real” job I ever loved.
    .
  56. I don’t have “resting bitch face,” apparently I have “concentrating murder face.”
    .
  57. I have a way of getting things right on the first try. I seem to be a “natural” at a lot of things, like doing everyone’s hair but mine and figuring out new social networking sites.
    .
  58. When I want to remember things, my brain sorts them alphabetically. It happens without me even noticing most of the time.
    .
  59. I don’t like children, have children or want children. People think that’s awful, but I think most people breeding is awful. (Oddly, kids are fascinated by me and often like me better than their parents.)
    .
  60. I love Erin Motz yoga lessons. I need to get back to doing them. (I still can’t touch my toes.)
    .
  61. I love making connections online and see those people as friends, and it bothers me when people break the relationships off because they’re not getting anything profitable from you.
    .
  62. I believe that most people can become better than they are, they just have to quit being lazy and actually try.
    .
  63. I don’t think men should hold doors open for women. I think people should hold doors open for other people.
    .
  64. I never saw the point in table settings and seven pieces of silverware. if I’ve got a fork, knife and spoon, I’m good.
    .
  65. My perfect man would look like Joe Manganiello (as Alcide), only shorter, with Blake Shelton’s nose and Ian Somerhalder’s eyes. My husband is cool with me dating that guy if I meet him.
    .
  66. I hardly ever buy name brand items. Why spend more when the generic is just as good? This mindset even applies to my electronics choices.
    .
  67. My favorite days are ones where I write 10 or more pieces in a day. few things make me as happy as being creative and productive at the same time.
    .
  68. I want to live somewhere that will allow me to walk in nature and collect herbs whenever I want, within walking distance.
    .
  69. If I could, I’d put every pedophile, rapist and murderer on an island with no modern conveniences and leave them there. My compassion has limits.
    .
  70. I used to run a fan site for Neve Campbell, and it was one of the biggest ones on the internet.
    .
  71. I often pray for superpowers, and I would use them to change the world for the better.
    .
  72. I’m currently working on two books, one about bringing magic into your life and one that’s vampire-themed poetry.
    .
  73. I used to have anorexia, and was down to a mere 94 pounds at 22 years old. People still called me fat.
    .
  74. I think the beauty industry is one of the most damaging things in our society.
    .
  75. I’d love to meet the current Dalai Lama and shake his hand. That would be amazing.
    .
  76. I used to read voraciously. I feel bad that I don’t anymore. I wish that I could afford good books and get back into reading.
    .
  77. If someone’s playing Skyrim or Rock Band it will put me to sleep.
    .
  78. I’m putting real effort into being more social online and not being one of those click-and-walk type people that most internet users have become.
    .
  79. I would love to see a real geisha performance, and at one time considered learning enough to do my own geisha shows on YouTube. I got halfway decent with a fan.
    .
  80. I like doing vlogs, but don’t like watching them. I’d read the transcripts if anyone ever did them. Sadly, not many people do.
    .
  81. I can disagree with you and respect you at the same time. I wish more people could grasp that concept.
    .
  82. I like singing out loud and dancing around when no one is watching.
    .
  83. I don’t like my tattoos anymore and I’d probably get them removed if I could afford it.
    .
  84. I have given money to friends and strangers even when I couldn’t really afford it. People being greedy really bothers me.
    .
  85. I am an ordained interfaith minister and a Doctor of Metaphysics.
    .
  86. Blackheart rum is my favorite alcohol. It used to be Raspberry Stolichnaya, which is how my bird Stoli got his name.
    .
  87. I have long upper canines and my lower canines came in sideways. I think it looks cool, but when I smile or laugh it scares people.
    .
  88. I wrote a sci-fi/horror book that’s never been published because I can’t work out the timeline errors.
    .
  89. I think that having a small dragon as a pet would be the coolest thing ever.
    .

    .
  91. I’d love to sell over a million copies of my books.
    .
  92. I proofread everything I write, even social media comments. It drives me batty when a typo makes it into the public eye.
    .
  93. I actually thank people for correcting me or teaching me a different way of doing things. It’s another one of those qualities that I wish more people had.
    .
  94. If I were rich, I’d have a ridiculous number of custom painted Monster High dolls.
    .
  95. I’d like to be wealthy enough to give away at least $1000 every month to random people in need.
    .
  96. I miss my claws. I used to have nails so long that people wondered how I was able to type. Oddly, I could type faster with long nails than I can without.
    .
  97. I consider myself a polymath, and it’s one of very few labels that I embrace.
    .

Wow, that was hard! I hope you enjoyed it, and I’m eager to hear your thoughts, responses and questions.
