If you hate shaving, this is for you!
Razors are a pain, literally and figuratively. Fortunately, there are alternatives to shaving plus other tips that will keep your legs looking great.
It’s a rare thing to find a woman who doesn’t dislike shaving. We all want simple hair removal and great looking skin. Fortunately there are some great chemical-free techniques that we can employ to keep our skin soft and healthy and out legs hair-free.
First off we want to get rid of that pesky leg hair! I’m sure you’ve seen or heard of those hair removal pads that you buff the hair off with. They’re effective, but they also cost quite a bit and result in a lot of waste, since few brands offer refills, you have to buy a whole new unit. Fear not, there is another choice! 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper is the same thing as what you find on those pads, just without the adhesive. It may sound odd, but it’s true!
Cut the sandpaper into 4” squares and rub the paper in a gentle circular motion over your legs. Use light pressure, you don’t want to damage your skin. This removes the hair and exfoliates at the same time, while also saving you money.
In addition to your normal bathing routine, take a very hot bath once a week. You don’t want the water scalding hot, but do make it as hot as you can handle without discomfort. Try to soak for 20-40 minutes, and don’t add any soaps to the water. The hot water will help slough off the dead surface skin and encourage the growth of healthy new skin cells.
Using a loofah once or twice a week will also help to remove dead skin cells and encourage new growth. It can also aid in buffing off any rough spots. Keeping the skin exfoliated can also reduce the risk of ingrown hair. Be sure to use the loofah gently though, you’re trying to aid your skin’s regeneration, not cause damage and irritation.
I’ve recently taken to using a dry body brush, and I love it. I got one for $5 on amazon and I use it every day before my shower. My skin is softer and brighter than ever before and I no longer use a loofah.
These steps alone are a great start to amazing skin. However, if you want you might also choose a good lotion to keep your skin moisturized. Cocoa butter or aloe are good choices. Stay away from oil-based or oily feeling lotions, since they can clog your pores and create skin issues, such as breakouts. If your skin feels good enough, I suggest staying away from skin products.
If you’re interested, there are some products on the market designed to slow or even stop the growth of body hair. They’re typically used after hair removal, and they cause new hair to be lighter and finer. If you choose one of these products, I suggest looking for the most natural product you can find. There are some that really do work, and they can make future hair removal far easier and quicker.
The greatest thing about these tips is that they’ll not only give you great legs, but you can also use them to improve your skin overall. Having soft, silky skin makes you look great and feel great too.
