Many of you have probably heard of the site The Art of Manliness. Well, as interesting as that site is, I’m a woman, and I wanted a version for women. Sadly, finding such a thing proved harder than I’d expected.

If you do a little searching, the results are somewhat shocking. Finding sites and information directed at men becoming better men and better people are not hard to find. The Art of Manliness is a shining example of some of the great information available to men. If you’re a woman, finding anything similar is less like looking for a needle in a haystack and more like looking for a specific strand of hay in a filled barn.

I found a site called The Art of Womanliness, unfortunately there were only seven posts and the site was abandoned over a year ago. I kept looking and looking. some sites offered a nugget of information on how to be a real lady, but would have little else. It took me nearly the whole day to find a site that seems to have more than just a few scattered bits to offer. The Proper Lady is as close to what I was looking for as I think I’m likely to find unless the owners of The Art of Manliness decide to listen to their fans and open a sister site.

The Proper Lady has articles on, well, being a proper lady. Unfortunately, that’s something most women have forgotten how to be, providing they ever knew in the first place. The site doesn’t have as wide a variety of information and ideas as TAOM does, but it’s still useful. I’ve bookmarked it and I intend to be reading it more in the future.

As for why I’m looking for a site like this, well, that’s going to need an article all to itself. In the meantime, if you’re a woman, go ahead and click over to TPL, you might enjoy it.
