I was so excited at the idea of having yoga sessions that I could follow, I decided to go ahead and start today. My experience was both good and bad.

First off, the Bixle yoga mat I bought is fantastic. It’s super cushy and comfortable and large enough to do everything without having parts of my body touching the floor. I could sleep on this thing it’s so comfortable!

I started off with Basic Breathing | Beginner Yoga With Tara Stiles. It was really easy to follow, which made me happy. Nothing too crazy on this one. There were some moves I couldn’t do fully, but not because they were too advanced.

On the down-side: I really need to get my hamstrings and knee-area muscles more stretched. I can’t straighten my legs in most poses, nor can I keep my heels down. I’m sure time will fix that. I also need to do some work on my neck. Several of the poses hurt my neck and made me feel lightheaded and nauseous. I’m going to do neck stretching at my desk a few times a day from now on to see if I can get that worked out.

I also need to find a better place to put the laptop so I can see it when I’m doing poses that have me really close to the floor. Having it up on the vanity makes it uncomfortable to look at. I’m going to need to find a different space to work in too. I kept banging my left arm into the bed frame, so I think I’m going to have to see if there’s enough space between the end of the bed and the chifferobe. If not, I guess I’ll be sitting in front of the bathroom door.

Luckily, it seems that all of the issues I had today can totally be fixed. I obviously need to stretch my neck and legs a lot, but I can work on that here and there throughout the day. It feels so good to be back at this. I was getting a bit upset about not being able to, so now I’m much happier.
