You’ve no doubt noticed that a lot of my work has an overall theme. I’m sharing my stories, my poetry and my thoughts in an effort to help others. When we’re down, when life and the world looks bleak, we want to know we’re not alone. We want to know that others have been where we are and come out of it better. I may write some other stuff here and there, but my goal, my dream, is to be a motivational, positive influence on the world.

Some days, doing that is very hard. There’s so much negativity, sadness, anger and hate. It can be hard to see how all of that can be turned around into something good and useful. It’s more work than you might realize. Just try for a moment to take something you’re seeing in the world that you don’t like, and turn it into something that can help someone be better. I love doing it, and I believe what I do is worthwhile, but that doesn’t make it easy.

I can get in some pretty bad funks from all of it. Luckily, I have learned how to deal with it, and I can bring myself back pretty quickly. Thank goodness for that too, because I’m no good to any of you if I’m all sad and angry. I’m not any good to me either!

Some people wonder why I even bother. They think this is a fool’s dream, because the world is what it is, people are what they are, and it’s better to just look out for #1 and call it good. I don’t believe that. I have seen evidence in my life that the more I care for and try to help others, the more good comes back to me. When I’m selfish and blocking out the bad, I’m also blocking out all the good.

So even though it has its hard times, this is what I want to do with my life. This is what I love. I’m going to do whatever I have to do to be the best me that I can be, and to help everyone else out there do the same. Will I ever become the next Michael Beckwith or Elle Swan? Who knows! All I know for sure is that I’m already changing people, and there’s endless potential from here.
