You want to be a success and have a better life, but it just doesn’t seem to be working. Read this article to see some of the things you may be doing that are sabotaging your progress and keeping you from getting ahead in life.
Feel like you’re not good enough. If you let people convince you (or convince yourself) that you’re not smart enough, young enough or talented enough to do something, that’s exactly the way it will be. Try to have some confidence.
Tell yourself you can’t do it. Convincing yourself that you can’t do something is going to make it happen that way. Don’t let yourself believe that you can’t, only believe that you can, and you will.
Never think for yourself. If you’re always trying to do what everyone else thinks is right, you’re never going to get anywhere. Worry less about pleasing everyone else, and think more about achieving the things that will make you happy.
Try to do everything at once. If you try to take on the world all at once, you are doomed to failure. Pace yourself, and focus on the most rewarding endeavors.
Give up when it gets hard. If you give up every time something gets a bit challenging, you’re never going to finish anything. If something’s got you baffled, or is taking too much work, set it aside for now, and come back to it later with fresh eyes. Only give up if it is completely out of your capacity to do.
Complain about everything. If all you can do is go on about how bad it is, all you’ll ever see is how bad it is. Break the habit of griping and complaining, and focus on the positive. Be happy about what you have done and can do, and don’t focus on the rest so much.
Hate your job and your life. If you hate everything about your life or your job, focusing on it all the time will only make it worse. Instead, try to think of what you can do to change it. Even if it’s one tiny change at a time, think about those changes, and make them happen.
