Have you ever really listened to Shania Twain’s Any Man of Mine? The lyrics of that song are not the awesome empowering stuff some women think they are.

Let me show you some of the hypocritical, horrible lyrics of the song in case you never really paid attention:

“I can be late for a date that’s fine but he better be on time”
“Anything I do or say better be okay when I have a bad hair day”
“When I cook him dinner and I burn it black he better say, mmmm, I like it like that”

Oh yeah, those are totally empowering lyrics. I’ve seen so many women singing this song, dancing and saying “Right on!” “You go girl!” Women who agree with the lyrics of this song are part of the reason so many men hate women and why people like me think women are crazy.

My Humps by Black Eyed Peas is another one I can’t listen to. The song is just offensive. Really, a song about butt, and referred to that way?

“They say I’m really sexy, The boys they wanna sex me. They always standing next to me, Always dancing next to me, Tryin’ a feel my hump, hump. Lookin’ at my lump, lump.”

I love Nickelback, but Figured You Out is now off my playlist:

“I like your pants around your feet – And I like the dirt that’s on your knees – And I like the way you still say please – While you’re looking up at me – You’re like my favourite damn disease”
“I love the good times that you wreck – And I love your lack of self-respect – While you passed out on the deck – I love my hands around your neck”

There are others too. People really need to pay attention to the lyrics of the songs they listen to and the message behind them. What songs have you stopped listening to because of bad lyrics?
