no-pixaI tried this last year on FaceBook and was met with a lot of opposition, but maybe the world has changed in the last year and it will go better this time.

Here’s the challenge: Don’t Post anything negative online for 24 hours. No articles, statuses or shared links anywhere that draw attention to the negativity and stupidity of the world. Instead, post things that are uplifting, give hope, and show the better side of the world. If you can’t find something positive about people, funny or nice images and comics are fine. Just nothing negative for 24 hours.

That means no celebrities unless they’re doing something socially responsible, no tragedies unless it’s someone overcoming them. If you want to write about something that’s wrong in society, you must do it without hate and show people how to be better. No plain ranting.

Can you do it? the last time I posted this challenge I was told that I was naive and being unreasonable, because showing negativity was a necessity. I was told I was stupid for even thinking of such a thing. Not one single person in my over 3000 contacts agreed to the challenge. How about we make it different this time around?

How many of you will take the challenge? Can you focus on the better side of life for a full 24 hours? Can you commit to making some positive waves for one day? I think you can. Comment if you’ll get on board with this challenge. Let’s plan it for Monday March 25th, okay? This gives all of you time to think about it and plan for it. On Monday, we can go around and see all the good, positive posts that people are sharing both here and on their social networks.

I never had seen this post before, but it’s an interesting idea. How did it go this year?

A couple of people said they’d do it, but they were people who already wrote mostly positive stuff. I also got some more negative comments about how negativity was necessary and I was naive for trying something like this.
I’m going to try it again in 2014, and maybe, just maybe I can get some people to actually take action for a change.

I’m thinking about trying that. I do what I can to stop negative thoughts all the time, but negativity is so trained into people today… it’s extremely hard to stop.

It gets easier as time goes by. I’ve gotten really good at it. It took me a few years, but now I can brush away just about anything within an hour or less, usually within minutes.
